Monaco secured all three points in their Ligue 1 match against Ajaccio on Saturday evening, thanks to a brace from Yohan Cabaye and an assist from Jérémy Boga. The match saw Monaco secure a comfortable victory over the Corsicans, who were without their star player Jonathan Bamba.
Yohan Cabaye scored twice for Monaco, the first coming early in the second half when he slotted home a penalty after being brought down by a defender. The second came moments later, as Cabaye headed home a cross from the left wing to double Monaco's lead. It was Cabaye's second hat-trick of the season, having previously netted in his previous game against Nice.
Jérémy Boga also played a key role in Monaco's success, providing an assist for Cabaye's second goal. Boga had been a constant threat throughout the match, creating several chances for his teammates but failing to score himself.
Ajaccio, meanwhile, struggled to find any rhythm in the match and found themselves trailing by two goals at halftime. However, they did manage to get a goal back through Yann M'Vila's header in the 78th minute, before Cabaye completed his hat-trick with a well-taken finish in the final minute of normal time.
The win puts Monaco top of the table in the Ligue 1 standings, just one point ahead of Lyon. They will be looking to maintain their momentum as they host Lille next weekend, while Ajaccio will need to focus on improving their defensive record if they want to avoid relegation.
